On Friday, October 17, 2025, Jesse Collins’s Mira Loma Matadors face off against Nick Gleason’s Foresthill Wildfires. Coming into this highly anticipated match, both teams are at a 6-0 undefeated record in the 8-Man Sacramento Metropolitan Athletic League. Mira Loma High School is currently first in the league, with Foresthill following with just one win shy of tying the matadors.
This league match is a highly anticipated match for both sides, as the Matadors will be celebrating their wonderful seniors while playing in front of their home fans for their homecoming football game. Foresthill, on the other hand, will be determined to further their league accomplishments with this match.
In terms of statistics heading into the match, both teams boast astonishing statistics that truly prove their prominence within this season. Freshman wide receiver Keion Kado boasts the leading statistic of 68.3 receiving yards per game, while Vincent Navarro of Foresthill leads in rushing yards per game with a whopping 176.2 yards. It will be interesting to see how the matador duo of Keion Kado and the quarterback DeAngelo Keys fare against Waylong Gossic and Vincent Navarro of the wildfires.
Mira Loma Captain, Joshua Vakarau (12), gave some insight about the Matador’s season so far:
“Our season is going great, we are currently 6-0, and we intend to win a divisional championship. Our defense has done an amazing job shutting down numerous teams’ offenses, and we have made effective plays with our own offense. This season would definitely be my favorite because of the team’s success and the many positive memories we have made. Thanks to our great team chemistry and bonding formed over the years, and amazing coaching staff, we are definitely a strong team.”
Vakarau’s performances haven’t gone unrecognized as he’s making a lot of noise with his 6 receiving touchdowns and an average of 35 yards per game. Another captain, Francis Arizemendez (12), is anticipating a satisfactory victory against Foresthill and believes that the coaching staff has greatly improved the team’s cooperation and coordination. The same was stated by Maxwell Olmstead (12) and DeAngelo Keys, who are certainly grateful for the support and gratitude from the Mira Loma Football Community and hope to get a definitive win against Foresthill.

Jordy Cardozo (12) also had a lot to say about the success of the Matadors:
“Our football season has been nothing short of phenomenal. We are 6-0 so far, undefeated, and have only given up fewer than 32 points in the last 6 games. That’s less than a TD a game. The first four games of our season ended in shutouts. Our team’s success is not the result of one person in particular, but a group effort. Our defense has been key to our success as we, as a group, including our backups, have given up only 2 TDs the entire season. The defensive line has been phenomenal throughout the season. Our linebackers have also been phenomenal. The game is won in the trenches, and the pure dominance our Defensive line has demonstrated has allowed us to limit opposing teams’ offenses so that our secondary gets to eat as well. Our Offensive line has also been playing extremely well. They have been blocking very good, which allows our run game to be so good, and allows our passing game to be so good as well. Our O-line gives our QB a lot of time to throw in the pocket. Our offense, in general, is extremely good. Our running backs are both really good as well. One of our running backs, Frankie, runs extremely hard and punishes anybody who tries to tackle him by powering through them and smacking them. Our receivers are also outstandingly good. Our receiving core has been doing a good job of catching the ball.”
He would also like to thank his coaches tremendously for helping him avoid injury, preparing him for success, and giving him essential advice for plays.
Mira Loma versus Foresthill will be a highly anticipated game for both sides. This match would mark the senior night for the Matadors and serve as their homecoming football game. This night will be filled with fun performances from the cheer teams, traditional floats, and an energetic atmosphere dedicated to all players and fans.
We encourage you to enjoy the football and performances while exercising your sportsmanship to both sides!
The match starts at 7:30 P.M. at Del Campo High School.
