A few weeks ago, on Friday, January 30th 2026, our school held its annual Asian Culture Fair. This event took place all across the Mira Loma campus, with decorations hung around the entire school, trifolds and posters set up outside of the C Building, and performances taking place inside of the cafeteria.
This celebration contained many different attractions. One of these was booths set up to educate students about specific Asian cultures from different countries across the continent. These countries ranged from Afghanistan to Korea, and some booths even included fun activities such as a traditional Korean game that students could play!
Another important attraction present at this event was the dance and music exhibitions inside of the cafeteria. Traditional dances performed included Chinese dragon dancing, the Chinese lion dancing, Vietnamese fan dancing, Chinese fan dancing, Indian Bollywood dancing, and Filipino bamboo stick dancing. Several Mira Loma clubs were also involved and put on performances, including the B-Sharps club, the Pop Rocks club, the Mira Loma Desi Student Association, and Mira Loma Taiko Club.
Other attractions during this event included areas where students could observe art made by students in our school’s art classes to celebrate Asian culture, chalk art, and even an area where students could sit to promote peace!
Notably, during the festival, there was also a special planned activity where visiting students had the opportunity to win rewards. Participating students were tasked with visiting many different attractions and booths at the event, and once they completed this, they were given a red envelope with a chance to win prizes such as gift cards! Congratulations to the winners!
Mira Loma students, especially those involved in the event, were impressed with the event. Sophia O’Brien, a senior at Mira Loma High School who participated in the Chinese fan dancing shares, “I feel like it was really successful this year especially with the organization of the performances. A lot of the time the audience is kind of everywhere but we were really able to keep them in a specific location so all performances knew where to face. I always enjoy the diverse amount of performances and I really think it was one of our best fairs.”

Agampreet Singh, another senior who attends Mira Loma and was involved in the event shares, “After dancing at our Asian Culture Fair for four years, my favorite thing about it has to be watching all of the performances. It is so beautiful to see the way different cultures represent themselves and tell stories through dance. The purpose of the Asian Culture Fair is to celebrate our unity through our diversity, and I believe every year we have done exactly that, without fail.” Agam organized the Indian Bollywood dancing and was a part of this performance at this year’s exhibition.

Isaac Jung, who is also a senior who attends Mira Loma, shares, “Our school recently hosted an Asian culture event that celebrated traditions like dancing and music from all over Asia. The event brought inclusivity by bringing students together to appreciate other diverse cultures and at the same time bringing awareness and understanding of Asian countries and of their rich heritage.” During the event, Isaac shared his own personal culture with the school by presenting at the South Korea booth.
Overall, this year’s Asian Culture Festival demonstrated the immense amount of diversity that our school is proud to celebrate.
