HoCo [Homecoming] finally arrived at Mira Loma High School a few weeks ago, with the theme of Myths and Legends. Homecoming Spirit Week featured crazy hair day, twin day, blackout day, among many others, and arrived at Float Building Night, on Thursday, October 17th, the Homecoming Football Game, on Friday, October 18th, and Saturday, for the Homecoming Dance.
With the theme of the Kraken, the Junior class of 2026 captured first place for the Homecoming floats, while the Senior class placed second with the theme of Medusa, the Freshmen class placed third with the theme of Pandora’s Box, and the Sophomore class placed fourth with the theme of The Underworld.
Many students stayed from 3:30 PM to 11:00 PM for Float Building Night to help with the creation of the floats. Students put their final finishing touches on their homecoming floats before the judges came to view the floats to determine who the winner was. There was food and music at the campus which motivated students as they worked hard to finish the floats.
It was difficult to finish the floats as there was a lot of ground to cover. The weather was also a challenge to beat as the wind kept carrying parts away, but everyone managed to finish their floats in the end. As freshmen, this was the first time that we participated in Float Building Night. It was an opportunity for us to collaborate with our friends to finish something useful for the school.
The Homecoming Football Game was held at Del Campo High School. We played against Oakmont High School, but we unfortunately lost our game with the score being 0 to 56. Still, it was a moment where Mira Loma’s students could share school spirit and cheer for the football team.
The school band also played to cheer on Mira Loma football team and the students as they battled against Oakmont High School. Additionally, the Homecoming floats paraded around the field for the students in the crowd to see as they each cheered on each of their grade’s floats.
Overall, the Homecoming Float Building Night and the football game were impactful opportunities for students to cheer on the school and bond with each other through their shared school spirit. We look forward to next year’s floats and more upcoming events for Mira Loma High School!
