Have an Empty Thanksgiving Break Calendar? Try These Sacramento Area Activities…

We’re in the midst of fall: the leaves have changed their color, there’s a chill in the air, and stores are beginning to fill up with holiday items. But, before you rush into the winter holidays, don’t overlook Thanksgiving break. Mira Loma has the week of Saturday, November 19th to Sunday, November 27th off. If you’re at a loss for ideas, here are plenty of fun local activities to take part in:

  1. Apple Hill

Apple Hill attracts many families all year round, but it’s most popular in the fall. Located in Placerville, Apple Hill has pumpkin patches, flowers, corn mazes, and so much more for people of all ages. Their apple harvest, which is currently taking place, includes a wide variety of apples, such as Fuji, Golden Delicious, Honey Crisp, Granny Smith, and several others. On top of that, Apple Hill offers up delectable treats for your fall-time cravings. They sell caramel apples, a variety of ciders, and several flavors of homemade fudge. 

  1. Hiking

If you’re looking for a fun outdoor activity to do with family or friends, hiking is a great choice for the fall, as temperatures are cooling down and the wildlife is beautiful. You can see deer, wildflowers, and much more.

  1. Auburn State Recreation Area

This park has a large selection of hikes to pick from, with breathtaking views of lakes, rivers, and wildlife. There are opportunities for gold panning, picnics, and general sightseeing as well, if you prefer not to engage in anything too strenuous. Some hikes to look into are the Lake Clementine Trail and the Quarry Trail.

  1. Hinkle Creek Nature Area

The Hinkle Creek Nature Area in Folsom has family- and dog-friendly hiking trails with calm, scenic routes for biking or walking. With views of large, beautiful trees and the Hinkle Creek, this area is perfect for hikes of all levels, for you, your family, and your furry friend.
