The long-awaited homecoming season has finally arrived, and despite the challenges that may be present from a persistent pandemic, its anticipated celebratory activities will be taking place. Here is some important information to know:

Juniors: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Homecoming Royalty
Nominations for homecoming royalty ended on the 24th, and voting will be held in person from September 28th-29th during lunch in front of C6! Go vote for your favorite couple or friendship duo from your class!
The Football Game
This year’s Homecoming Game will be live! Come join in the festivities, and cheer on our home team this Friday!
When: October 1st at 6:30 pm
Where: Abbotts Field (The Stadium at El Camino High School)
Bring friends and food, wear Mira Loma colors, and be ready to show some Matador spirit!
Friday Rally Day Schedule
This Friday, September 30th will follow a rally day schedule instead of the standard bell schedule! This means there will be an extended lunch, and you will have the opportunity to view the outdoor rally in the quad. You can find the rally bell schedule here.
The Dance
The Homecoming Dance is now happening on Saturday, October 23rd from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm. Tickets are $25 with an ASB card and $30 without. The dance will be located outside on the Mira Loma football field. It is recommended that students dress warmly as it is outside and at night. The following are guidelines and requirements regarding the dance:
- Tickets cannot be purchased at the door; They must be purchased on the Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday before the dance, at the finance office.
- Masks MUST be worn throughout the whole dance.
- ALL participants must show proof of vaccination OR proof of a negative COVID test in order to purchase a ticket. Any COVID tests must have been taken 72 hours or fewer prior to the event.
- Any non-Mira Loma studnents will NOT be allowed to attend.
- No high heels are allowed so as to maintain the quality of the turf on our field.
- All students must understand that the district and/or administration reserves the right to cancel the dance for any reason at any time. If this ends up happening, students will receieve refunds for tickets.
The Flower Parties & Overnighter
Flower parties are happening every day at lunch. Remember, each theme has the potential to become a stellar float, so make sure to contribute to your classes’ flower parties!
Freshmen meet in room H111, Mr. Ashwell’s room
Sophomores meet in room C4, Mr. Bender’s room
Juniors meet in room C8, Ms. Hansen’s room
Seniors meet in room D6, Ms. Sanders’ room
The overnighter will take place on Thursday, September 30th from 2 pm to 11:45 pm in the Quad. That’s this Thursday right after school! Bring your ID card or student portal login and a mask. If you are planning to attend, make sure to get a parent permission form filled out. You can drop by C6 before school, during break, during lunch, or after school, or ask your class officers to obtain a form. The forms are due in C6 by Wednesday, September 29th at 3:30!!!
Homecoming Spirit Week
Homecoming spirit week will take place all week from Monday, September 27th, to Friday, October 1st. The daily themes are as follows:
9/27: Mismatch Monday – This means stripes and polka dots, mismatched shoes/socks, and whatever else you make of it!
9/28: Twin Tuesday – Twin with your best friend, teacher, or classmate!
9/29: Wednesday We Wear Pink – Wear pink to show your support of breast cancer awareness.
9/30: Throwback Thursday – Dress like you’re from a different decade.
10/1: Homecoming Friday – Wear your homecoming shirt!
